Branch Equal Opportunities Representative

Many Members are not yet aware of an addition to the Rule Book. The extract below is taken from the 2007 edition. The entire rule book is shown in the members section of the ASLEF website.

RULE 10. ASLEF BRANCHES

(e) The Branch Committee shall comprise of:

Branch Chair,

Branch Vice-Chair,

Branch Secretary,

Assistant Branch Secretary,

Equal Opportunities Representative

Two Trustees,

Committee members

To help both the Branch Equal Opportunities Reps and Branch Members to understand the new role and the reason it exists, two slide show presentations have been produced.

Click on the links below to view them. They are also available in the members section of the ASLEF website.

The role of the Branch Equality Rep
This slideshow is aimed at ALL members.  Its main intention is to explain the role of the ASLEF Equal Opportunities Representative. (When viewing the slideshow, click on the arrows to go forward to the next page, or back to the previous page)

Equality - What do I do?
This is the longer version of the slideshow shown above.

It is intended mainly as a guide for ASLEF’s Branch Equal Opportunities Representatives and could also be used as a training / learning aid (but NOT as the only form of training).

It will also be useful to every other ASLEF member who believes Equality is important.  (When viewing the slideshow, click on the arrows to go forward to the next page, or back to the previous page)

Head Office issued a circular on 19th December 2007 encouraging Branches to fill this position. Click here to read it.
