Europe
And Your Rights At Work
If you thought your rights at work just happened, think again.
During the Thatcher years we allowed many of our rights to be taken from
us.
The European Union has helped us reclaim some of what we lost and to gain
many new rights, too.
Many of the advances in workplace rights that we take for granted would
not have become law in the UK if it were not for Europe. This is highlighted in
a pamphlet published by the TUC.

The
European
Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) was established in 1973 to provide a
trade union counterbalance to the
economic forces of European integration. Following the changes in Central
and Eastern Europe, a large number of new trade unions have joined our
ranks.
