The  Retired Members Section has its own constitution and standing orders. We have an Annual General Meeting in November of each year, when all retired members in the Section are invited.

ASLEF are affiliated to the National Pensioners Convention (NPC), which is the umbrella organisation for pensioners’ groups who affiliate, similar to the TUC. Currently there are over 300 affiliates representing over 2 million pensioners through the country.

ASLEF is represented on the NPC Executive and the National Council by members of the Retired Members Committee.

We also attend the Pensioners Parliament, held this year 2002 at Blackpool with over 3,000 delegates in attendance.

We are currently working towards a better relationship with other trade unions’ retired sections, such as the RMT and TGWU.
